Items Related to Class Observations
Class observations should be based on the six sub-criteria of
the Faculty Effectiveness tenure criteria. An individual
observer can choose to focus on one or two sub-criteria for one
class observation, as long as all the sub-criteria are observed
during the course of the academic year.
Observations will include 2-3 observations per quarter,
including at least one observation per year by each team member.
To facilitate proper evaluation, an attempt should be made to
ensure that all classes are observed by team members.
In-Person Observations
-
TRC recommends using the
appropriate updated PLAID rubrics for In-person
classes and Online
Synchronous classes.
-
Alternatively, use the class observation form from the
Teaching Effectiveness course.
-
Narratives are still welcome, but should focus on the
six-sub-criteria of the Faculty Effectiveness tenure
criteria.
Online Observations
-
TWC should use the updated PLAID rubric for Asynchronous
Online classes
-
The PLAID Quick Guide gives an excellent overview of the PLAID criteria.
